Broodwing Bald Eagle Guide: Hunting, Growth and Packs

How to play the Bald Eagle in Broodwing: hunt hares without scent, eat before the carcass despawns, grow through extra stages, and hunt as a pack.

The Bald Eagle is Broodwing's only pure predator. It cannot graze, so every meal comes from a hunt: hares on the ground, plus geese, ducks, ravens and other players' chicks. Eagle families also tend to fill up first, and the eagle grows through more stages than any other bird.

How the Bald Eagle plays

Each bird in Broodwing finds food a different way. The goose grazes, the mallard eats cattails, the raven picks food off the ground, and the eagle has to eat meat. In first-look gameplay the host summed it up: "the only one that actually needs to hunt for stuff is the bald eagle."

That makes the eagle loop simple but demanding:

  • Find prey from the air. Press Space to take off and scan the valley.
  • Strike and land on the kill. Hold E over the carcass to eat.
  • Fly home and feed. If you have chicks, don't hunt too far from the nest.

The controls and animations are very close to Village Survival, the studio's other animal game, so players coming from there will feel at home.

Hunting tips

  • There is no scent system. You can't smell prey, so you find it by sight and sound. Fly high, circle open ground, and listen for duck and goose calls near water.
  • Hares are the main food. In launch-week footage, adult eagles were "locked in" on rabbits and hares in open fields. They are small and slippery, so expect a few missed grabs before one lands.
  • Eat fast. A hare carcass disappeared about 2 minutes 30 seconds after the kill in the recorded run. Don't leave a kill to chase a second target.
  • Birds are prey too. Eagles killed a goose and attacked mallard families in the same session. One eagle also grabbed a raven player standing on the ground and killed it.
  • A kill isn't always edible right away. The host could not eat a duck carcass right after killing it. The likely reason is a full hunger bar, but this isn't confirmed.

Prey players know the eagle is coming. A game tip tells smaller birds to hide in the cattails or fly down the river near the waterfalls, because eagles don't visit there. If your target vanishes into reeds or heads for the falls, switch targets instead of chasing.

Nesting and raising eaglets

Eagles use the same nest system as the other birds: gather large branches and sticks first, then the finer materials. Only a female bird can build the nest and lay. Laying costs a chunk of hunger for each egg, so hunt and eat before you start a clutch. For the full material list and nest-site tips, see how to lay eggs in Broodwing.

Two things are different for eagles:

  • Eagle families are in demand. In one launch-week server, three players had bald eagle nests while the goose and mallard had one each and the raven had none. Joining as an eaglet is still hard, because parents decline a lot of invites. One host tried several servers and gave up on hatching as an eaglet.
  • Growth takes longer. Most birds grow from chick straight to subadult. The Bald Eagle passes through a fledgling stage and then a juvenile stage first. A fledgling can move around the nest, while chicks of other birds mostly stay put. Plan for a longer feeding run than other birds need.

Packs and guardians

You can invite an adult male bald eagle into your family pack as a guardian. Guardians can hunt and bring food, which frees the mother to stay near the eggs. Packs are visible in the world. Players spotted whole eagle families, adults with younger, not-yet-grown eagles, hunting together.

If you're a lone eagle, the safest play is to hunt close to the nest and keep trips short. Ravens are a real threat to unguarded chicks: in the Barn Owl update video, a raven slipped into a nest and killed a chick while the parent was away.

Who fears the eagle

Every other bird plans around you:

  • Ravens avoid eagle territory. Raven players pick nest trees that are big and "not really noticeable to eagles."
  • Geese and mallards move their goslings and ducklings in silent groups and hide when an eagle passes.
  • Barn Owls are told in the update notes to "watch out for eagles," and eagles were seen circling owl hollows.

Fights can go the other way too. Geese can be aggressive, and in one clip a parent bird turned and fought an attacking eagle to cover its young. Don't assume an easy kill.

Leucistic Bald Eagle gamepass

The Leucistic Bald Eagle is a white color variant that costs 450 Robux (official Roblox price checked November 2, 2026). It is the most expensive pass in the game. Its store description says it also works in Village Survival, so one purchase covers both games. The default eagle is free.

Compare it with the other color passes on the Broodwing gamepasses page.

FAQ

Can the Bald Eagle eat grass or berries? No. It is the only bird that cannot graze, so it must hunt for meat.

How long does a kill last? A hare carcass lasted about 2 minutes 30 seconds in recorded play. Eat right away.

Why is it so hard to hatch as an eaglet? Eagle families are popular and parents often decline invites. Try several servers, or start as an adult eagle.

Does the eagle grow slower? It has two extra stages, fledgling and juvenile, before it becomes an adult.

Is the eagle skin worth 450 Robux? It is cosmetic, but it is the only pass that also works in Village Survival.
