Broodwing Beginner Guide: Your First Bird, Nest, and Brood
New to Broodwing on Roblox? Learn the survival loop, the best starting bird, where to nest, how to feed chicks, and which passes cost what.
Broodwing is a Roblox bird survival game from Realistics Studios (the studio behind Village Survival) that launched in October 2026. Your first session has one clear job: learn the flight controls, secure food, and get a nest down in a defensible spot before you worry about anything else. This guide walks that order and flags what's confirmed versus what's still shifting.
The loop you're actually playing
You start as a chick, eat what an adult brings or what you can reach, and grow into a flying adult. As an adult you hunt, pair up, build a nest, and lay eggs — and those eggs become the next chick another player controls. That handoff is what separates Broodwing from most animal roleplay games.
The valley gives you three usable layers: open grass where small prey moves, canopy cover that doubles as nest real estate, and water where fish are. The game's own description lists just two prey types — fish and bunnies — so your real decisions are about nest placement and who you nest with. Servers cap at 35 players, which makes a family group feel meaningful rather than lost in a crowd.
Pick a forgiving bird first
The confirmed playable birds are the Mallard (duck), Bald Eagle, Raven, Goose, and Barn Owl. The Barn Owl arrived in late October 2026 and hunts mice.
- Start with something steady. A balanced bird that handles flight, foraging, and nest care without a glaring weak spot is the easiest way to learn the map. Save specialists for later.
- The Barn Owl is a solid second pick if you want a night-flavored playstyle with a defined prey type — see our Barn Owl overview.
- Treat "Gosling" as a life stage, not a bird. It's the label for goose eggs and babies. The goose itself is just called Goose here; sources disagree on whether it's a greylag or a Canadian goose.
- Don't count on a Cuckoo or a swan yet. Cuckoo isn't confirmed as playable, and swans were announced as coming soon but aren't in the game.

Practice flight before you commit to a trip
Take off, steer, and land in open space near where you started. Learn how your bird gains distance and how much altitude you need to clear the canopy. Only then start longer trips — and always pick a return path before you leave, keeping landmarks and landing spots in mind.
Find water early, then plan your nest
Fish are the most reliable food source, and the pond is the easiest landmark to navigate by. Once you know where water is, look for a nest site that balances three things:
- Cover nearby so you're not exposed while incubating.
- More than one escape route — terrain that breaks a pursuer's line.
- A short hop to food, so every supply run as a parent is quick.
A nest above the waterline near fishing spots shortens every trip you'll make for the rest of the brood cycle. Most early losses trace back to a bad nest site, so don't rush this step.
Build, lay, and hatch
Gather nesting materials as you travel rather than making dedicated detours, and don't haul supplies through areas with predators or hostile players. Once eggs are laid, keep a routine: check the nest after any long trip, avoid unnecessary travel, and don't abandon it without a return plan. Our egg-laying walkthrough covers the brood cycle in more detail.
Feed chicks on short, repeatable runs
Chicks depend on steady returns, not one big haul. Build a food reserve before you start a long brood phase, then run short gathering loops you can complete consistently. If you're playing with others, split the work: one bird hunts while another guards the nest. When a threat shows up, move the young away from danger if you can, use terrain to break pursuit, and come back only when the area is clear.
Free codes and Plumes
Codes reported on October 31, 2026 grant Plumes, the in-game currency: 10kmembers (1,000 Plumes), duck (500 Plumes), and barnowl (1,000 Plumes). Redeem them with the Codes button at the top left of the screen, and watch the developer Discord for new drops. Codes expire, so check the current Broodwing codes list before you assume one still works.
Gamepasses are cosmetic — here's the price list
You don't need a pass to play the full loop. The passes are color variants: leucistic (white) and melanistic (dark). Prices checked on the official Roblox listing on November 1, 2026:

| Leucistic Bald Eagle (also works in Village Survival) | 450 Robux |
| Melanistic Barn Owl | 350 Robux |
| Leucistic Barn Owl | 350 Robux |

| Leucistic Duck | 250 Robux |
| Leucistic Black Swan | Listed, not for sale |

Quick FAQ
Is Broodwing free? Yes — it's free to play on Roblox, and passes change appearance rather than gating gameplay.
How do I join a family? Family play is player-driven: team up, share a nest area, and divide hunting, guarding, and chick care. Joining before you build alone lets two adults cover hunting and defense at once.
What's the connection to Village Survival? Same studio, and the Leucistic Bald Eagle pass carries over between the two games. We compare them in Broodwing vs. Village Survival.
